Frequently asked questions about using Dead Sea Salt for psoriasis

We’ve been getting a lot of fantastic questions recently about using Dead Sea Salt for psoriasis, so let’s dive right into 10 of the most popular ones we’ve gotten.

How do I use Dead Sea Salt for my psoriasis?

There are three main ways to use Dead Sea Salt for psoriasis, which we covered in depth here. Long story short, you can either go floating, soak in a bath, or use a cream. Each one has its own pros and cons, but we generally like to go with the bath and cream method.

How often should I use Dead Sea Salt for my psoriasis?

As often as you can!  However, give your skin a little time to absorb the good stuff. We don’t want too much of a good thing.

Can I use Dead Sea Salt on all areas of my body?

Technically yes - but please avoid areas with open wounds, around the eyes, overly inflamed skin, or in places that have the potential to sting.

Is Dead Sea Salt safe for use on sensitive skin?

This depends on its form. For example, if you apply raw salt directly to very sensitive skin, it’ll probably sting quite a bit and won’t be a good time. However, if you use it in bath salt form or a properly processed form like our Dead Sea Salt cream, even individuals with very sensitive psoriasis can use Dead Sea Salt for their psoriasis. Just remember to start small in both quantity and area.

Will Dead Sea Salt cure my psoriasis?

Short answer: no. Unfortunately, psoriasis is considered an incurable skin condition. The real name of the game is in managing the flare-ups, and Dead Sea Salt is exceptional at this.

Can I use Dead Sea Salt in combination with other treatments for my psoriasis?

Absolutely, yes! Especially for those who are using UV-B treatment, it’s very effective to use Dead Sea Salt before you go under the light. Please make sure you talk to your healthcare provider first, however.

Are there any side effects to using Dead Sea Salt for my psoriasis?

Other than a slight sting on very inflamed skin, there aren’t usually any side effects which result from topical use. Some may feel dryness depending on how it’s used.

How long should I use Dead Sea Salt before seeing results for my psoriasis?

Two to six weeks, depending on your condition. Some customers have reported that they’ve seen red spots disappear in less than 5 days, while others have reported it taking up to a few weeks before they saw visible results.

Can I use Dead Sea Salt if I'm pregnant or breastfeeding?

I can’t imagine there being any issues, but please check with your healthcare provider. I would also recommend NOT applying anything salty around your breasts while breastfeeding too.
