Ugh, scalp psoriasis can be a real pain! It's so itchy and flaky, and let's be real, it's pretty embarrassing too. I've been there, done that, and tried just about every solution under the sun. I've slept with oily goop on my head and a plastic cap (not a good look), and I've bought countless bottles of fancy serum from all over the place. I even gave in and used steroid-based shampoo and spray, which worked like magic at first. But then, after a few months, my scalp was back to flaky square one. So frustrating!
They say that desperation is the mother of invention, and that's definitely true in my case! After struggling with scalp psoriasis for what felt like forever, I decided to take matters into my own hands. I started experimenting with different combinations of ingredients until I found the ones that worked best for me.
During my experimentation phase, my had-to-be-accomplished list was;
- Instant (or quick) relief when needed
- Non oily and non sticky - who wants sticky greasy hair?
- A little smell was okay but not overpowering
- Easy to carry
- Of course, as natural as it gets
After a lot of trial and error, I finally came up with what I think may be the perfect natural formula for scalp psoriasis–my SkinCalm Scalp Spray. This spray has been a total game-changer for me, and I'm so excited to share it with others who are dealing with the same frustrating condition.
Our products are not like your usual off-the-shelf scalp treatment. Depending on how you use them, they can be about average or they can be 10x better than anything you've ever tried before.
Over the years, I've learned a thing or two (well, five to be exact) on how to maximize relief with our scalp spray. Here are my tips:
Tip 1: Spray when you get an “itch” attack
This tip is pretty easy, but here's the best strategy. Separate your hair to expose the itchy spot, and then spray directly. Next, rub gently with your fingertips, massage a little, and tell your scalp “calm down my dear scalp …”. Your scalp will listen to you.
Tip 2: Spray soon after you dry your hair
At this point, your scalp should still be a bit moist. That makes it a great time to spray, because you can lock in that moisture. This means, you're putting up an extra barrier before your hair gets too dry and flaky.
Tip 3: Bring it on the go
Our spray bottle fits very comfortably in your bag, so keep relief on hand and carry it with you!
Tip 4: Don't limit relief to your scalp
Just because it says “scalp” doesn’t mean you can use it only on your scalp. If the itch strikes on your back or hard-to-reach areas, here we go - spray on. I love using it on the back of my neck, when I get that little red patch.
(but please don't use it near your eyes 🙏🏼)
Tip 5: Use a cotton ball or pad to apply
Spray on cotton balls or pads and then gently tap the affected area. If you are using cotton pads, you can leave it on for as long as you’d like - Your skin will appreciate the cooling, soothing feeling ☺️
If you need a refill or want to try some of these tips out, here's a link to our scalp spray. Sandra (one of our customers) said "It's worth every penny and then some!". You heard it from her, maybe it's worth a try!
